Engagement and pricing

Pay for the evidence work your decision needs.

A fee follows the defined question, lawful source access, complexity, review and intended use. We first assess the smallest useful scope, then provide the commercial basis in writing. You do not need to fund an account before asking for a proposal.

Choose an appropriate commercial structure

One matter and recurring support have different needs.

Fixed matter fee

For a sufficiently defined question, with named subjects, source boundaries and an agreed output. Material scope changes require a written adjustment.

Phased investigation

Start with feasibility or a bounded check, then decide whether a deeper phase is justified by the evidence and the importance of the decision.

Independent review

For testing existing claims or a report. The fee reflects the source work and challenge required, rather than the length of the document.

Monitoring or research desk

For agreed recurring capacity, subjects, intervals and review. Retained access does not mean unlimited investigations or unrestricted source costs.

What affects the quote

You can understand why the work costs what it does.

  • The exact question, number of subjects and period to be examined.
  • Jurisdictions, languages and lawful availability of original records.
  • Source access costs and the need for independent corroboration.
  • Contradictions, historical reconstruction and qualified specialist review.
  • Urgency, deliverable format and the use or reliance you require.
  • Recurring frequency, reserved capacity and any genuinely expanded usage rights.

Third-party registry, database, translation or specialist costs are identified in the scope where applicable. A narrow, useful answer is preferable to charging for a larger report that adds no decision value.

Formal quotation process

How a formal quotation is prepared.

We begin with the decision you need to make and the evidence required to support it. We then define the sources we may lawfully examine, the work involved, what you will receive and the limits of the assignment. The proposed fee and timetable follow that defined scope.

1. Define the question

Tell us the decision, material claim or uncertainty, the relevant people or organisations, countries involved and any genuine deadline. You do not need to choose an internal service.

2. Agree the work

We define planned checks, source limitations, written deliverables, your required inputs, the timetable and an appropriate pricing structure. If lawful access or complexity is uncertain, a smaller paid discovery phase may be proposed.

3. Confirm in writing

A person reviews the proposal before issue. An enquiry or estimate does not itself create an engagement. Written acceptance, relevant safeguards and agreed commencement and payment conditions must be satisfied.

The commercial structure follows the work.

Defined fixed fee

For an agreed question with clearly bounded subjects, source access, deliverables and review requirements.

Phased discovery

A limited first assignment where feasibility, records or the scale of deeper investigation must first be established.

Capped time and materials

For work that varies, with agreed professional rates, a written spending ceiling and prior authority before exceeding it.

Continuing research or monitoring

With a defined period, scope, subjects, source universe, reserved capacity and reporting limits. It is not unlimited research.

What your written quotation will cover.

It identifies the central question, included investigation steps, lawful evidence boundary, client inputs, deliverables, exclusions, fee and currency, applicable taxes or approved source costs, estimated timing, payment terms, revision allowances and how a material scope change would be authorised. No particular factual finding, recovery or professional certification is promised in exchange for payment.

Start without funding an account. Send a short description of your decision or evidence problem. We assess whether a proportionate, lawful assignment can be offered, then explain its scope and price in writing. Discuss a Matter →

Your proposal

The written agreement controls.

The proposal sets the fee, currency, taxes where applicable, source-cost treatment, payment schedule, delivery scope, exclusions, expiry and cancellation terms. Published historical price indications or development-model figures are not a current binding quotation.

New specialist packages are not sold at hypothetical spreadsheet prices. Their actual source costs, review needs, buyer value and delivery feasibility must be established first.

We do not promise a result, certification or favourable finding in exchange for payment.

Repeat work and account funding

Agree the work and account terms before funding.

A prepaid account or credit arrangement can simplify accepted repeat work when suitable. Eligible use, value, allocation, holds and refund treatment depend on the written account and engagement terms. It does not remove matter acceptance or authorisation.

The available payment route and its confirmation requirements are explained on the payment page. An initiated payment is not, by itself, a confirmed balance or permission to start every request.

Request a formal proposal

Tell us the decision, not the number of pages.

You can begin with a few sentences: the decision you face, the fact you need to establish, the relevant person or organisation, and any date that matters. Tell us what evidence you already have. You do not need to choose a product or write an investigation plan.

We assess whether independent factual work would help. Where it would, we agree the question, lawful sources, deliverable, limitations, timing and fee in writing before an accepted assignment begins.
